Bereaved mother creates keepsakes to help others heal
East Northport, NY July 2005- In 2002, Susan Mosquera was a young mother whose world was turned upside down when her third child died at birth from a complete placental abruption. Her own life was in jeopardy as well from the massive blood loss. After a long road of physical and emotional recovery, artisan Susan Mosquera is helping to raise awareness about pregnancy and child loss through her jewelry and keepsakes.
“Grieving parents want their child to be remembered, acknowledged and not forgotten or their death to be in vain, says Susan Mosquera. “Particularly in pregnancy and infant loss, there are very few mementos, so bereaved parents are left to search for or create their own keepsakes. However, finding items that are meaningful and appropriate can be difficult. In response, Mrs. Mosquera has created several unique and heartwarming pieces of jewelry and decorative items as a way to provide comfort for those touched by the loss of a child, no matter what age. Her most popular piece, the “Footprints Charm, is a sterling silver heart shaped charm with two footprints etched into the front and blackened to represent the ink footprints done at birth. The back reads, always in my heart.
Susan Mosquera strongly believes in awareness, research, education and activism to prevent future child loss. A portion of every sale is donated to charitable causes, which supports this. “Our children are our most precious gifts and we must protect them. I hope to make a difference by contributing to child advocacy causes.
In 1988, former President Ronald Reagan declared October to be National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month. Susan Mosquera will be selling pieces from her “My Forever Child collection at local memorial services, including Winthrop University Hospital’s Walk to Remember in Eisenhower Park on October 1st, 2005. She will be donating a part of the proceeds to the Winthrop Bereavement Program.
Susan Mosquera has been making jewelry since 1999 and has earned the Graduate Gemologist degree from the Gemological Institute of America. She enjoys learning and incorporating new techniques into her creations. She has completed classes in goldsmithing, silversmithing, precious metal clay, wax carving, design and rendering at well renowned institutions in New York City and the Art League of Long Island.

Wifi Hotspot Access - Options For Road Warriors
Posted by Administrator on Jul 19, 2005
Recently I went on a business trip / vacation to New England to visit customers and family I have in that area. While on the road I needed Internet access and was counting on my wifi hotspot access through T-Mobile. I planned on visiting Starbucks that had wireless Internet access. There was one problem, once you leave Dallas, it gets hard to find a Starbucks anywhere with wifi access until you hit Ohio.
Next best option; after searching the web for “wifi hotspot directories” and “wireless hotspot directories” to my disappointment, I found hotels offering Free wireless Internet access the next best option. Once I got near a city I planned to spend the night in, a quick stop to any gas station or rest area quickly supplied numerous magazine with hotel coupons and information on hotels offering Free high-speed wifi access.
This turned out to be a better solution than even searching the web as some hotels I called on the web didn’t have access or it was dial-up.
Additionally, while in an area where my brother-in-law lived, I had to travel about 15 miles to a local hotel that had high-speed wireless Internet access. Because I didn’t have a room with them, they offered to provide me with a pass for 24 hours for a modes fee of $3.00
So, if you are on the road and need high-speed wireless Internet access, try hotel / motels and don’t be afraid to ask for a day pass or to pay for access.
In my opinion, Wifi hotspot directories are still in their infancy and don’t provide enough thorough data to be of any real value yet. (If I’m wrong someone please point me to a good wifi directory site or share it with our visitors)
